30 Years of USS Carl Vinson: A History of America’s Favorite Carrier

Calling all carrier enthusiasts! You must check out this video — produced for the 30th birthday of the USS Carl Vinson, this past Monday, this video chronicles the past 30 years for the carrier.

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97) transit in formation with Indian navy ships during Exercise Malabar 2012.

On Tuesday, USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) arrived for a scheduled stop at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii while in transition to her homeport in San Diego following a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle areas.

March 15, 2013 marks the 33rd anniversary of the launch of USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) at Newport News Shipbuilding. The vessel’s namesake, former Georgia Congressman Carl Vinson, became the first living American to have a Navy ship named in his honor. Like and reblog this post to honor Cong.
